A Yawny Summer Day

This is me during my very first trip to the park. We went with some friends, my grandparents and aunts and uncles while we were in the United States. The weather was beautiful and just starting to cool down for the coming of fall. This was the first time my little toes felt the prickly green grass.

Our trip to the states went great but flew by. Josiah did great on the flight but caught a bad cold and chest congestion. We are not used to the air conditioning and it even makes my throat sore sometimes. On the flight back he got a ear ache which praise be to God is better now. He spent the first hour after arriving home fussy and the after I trying to do every possible thing (diaper changes, nursing, pjs, burping and walking) to alive his discomfort he started screaming from pain and refused to nurse. My mother-in-law came in and suggested we rub behind his ears with something like vapor rub with eucalypts and put him on a hat. After about 3o min. of walking, cuddling and calming him he quieted down and fell asleep but I had to sleep with him on my chest all night because he seemed to get very cold and would wake up if I laid him on the bed beside me. It was hard to experience this as he has never screamed like that before.

While we were in the States we attended my sister´s wedding in Florida which was beautiful and very God honoring. We also visited my grandmother´s church where Randall got to hear some Southern Gospel for the first time and eat some very Southern food. He really enjoyed it. The rest of our time was spent visiting some Hispanic friends, visiting with my family and helping my sister Sarah who is pregnant with twin girls paint and do some house organizing in preparation for their birth. I helped my sister Annie make bread and also did a few preserving things with some of the garden produce like freezing jalapeños and bell pepper and cooking the pumpkin so that they will be ready for holiday pies. It was fun to spend time with her. It seemed like it went by so fast and we hardly had time to turn around.
