Happy New Year to everyone! Sorry it has been so long since I have written. Things have just been too busy.
Hopefully this year I can do better. Here are some of the things that happened in 2008 and some
of the things we plan to do in 2009. May God bless each of you greatly. Thanks for your prayers.
FIRST MEDICAL TRIP FROM
LATIN AMERICA
In November - December of 2008 we led our first trip to Honduras. This trip was very special because we worked with Doctor Juan Pablo Noriega and his wife from Guatemala to make it a medical trip. This (a Latin medical team) is something new within Missionary Ventures and Central America as here they are used to receiving team and not going themselves. Our team was made up of 4 people from Guatemala including the Dr., Lab biologist and 2 dentist and 15 people from Costa Rica who had practiced to do dramas and evangelism (they also got first hand practice at helping the medical team). We were on the Caribbean coast in a town called La Ceiba for 8 days. Our typical day´s schedule looked like this:
5:30 am Woken up by Susan (the missionary we stayed with) singing
7 am Breakfast, dressed and personal devotion done, ready for the day
8 am we were at the clinic site setting up to start by 8:30
8:30 - 3 pm Clinic, children's ministry, one on one evangelism and counseling
4 - 6 pm Time at house to shower, eat dinner and get ready for the night
6 pm Church activity where we did dramas and shared testimonies
9:30 pm Back at house to get anything ready for the next day and have a small team meeting before lights out
As you can see our days were very busy but we enjoyed it and were able to make a difference in the lives of the people there. This was also one of the hardest trips to prepare for financial as we traveled by plane (bus trip takes 2 full days) but it was also one to the best trips we have led. We are already planning a trip for this summer.
Blessing From 2008!
As many of you know God blessed us with a Little blond haired blue eyed boy, Josiah Mikel Beita in June. He is now 7 months old. Life with him has been challenging but fun. We are continuing in our mission work as we want him to be involved at an early age. He has taken his first missions trip to Honduras and it went just as smoothly as being at home (we are trying to work on the routine for sleeping and eating an it kind of got interrupted while we were there) He spent a lot of time in his stroller or in his baby carrier which he loves. It was hard to keep the ladies and girls from holding him all the time as they have never seen a little white baby. I had to say no a lot.
My prayer for Josiah is that he will grow up loving the Lord and serving Him in all that he does.

Get our training materials better organized as we have a girl who will now help us prepare the teams
Raise more support for us personally and for our work

Great to see your posting your newsletter on your blog! Yea! I loved getting to see the picture of your group on the mission trip. I saw Josiah in the arms a young man who looked like we was really have fun with him - how sweet! :)
May God bless and expand the fruit of your labor for Him.
I am in prayer about all the dear ones and their families that are affected be the earthquake. Thanks for all the detail in your post about that. I don't realize sometimes how very very blessed I am to have all my needs met and more and that my husband has a good job.
