Earthquake Update

Please continue praying for the victims of the earthquake. There are 2,000 people who are without homes and are in shelters. There are also lots of cattle dead and destroyed strawberry and flower farms. This is how most people earn there living in the small towns around this volcano.

They have also rescued lots of animals, dogs, cats, goats, etc. by air. There are many places that are still unreachable because of the roads being destroyed. They are trying to evaluate where to build house and also to evaluate the roads and see if they can be rebuilt.

Today the Columbian rescue helicopters that have helped with the rescue went home after a week of 18 hour days.

Many people have donated all kinds of stuff like clothes, food, diapers, pet food, water, building materials, etc. and there are a lot of volunteers working to sort it all and deliver it to the families in need.

I can´t imagine what it would be like there at the epicenter even though we have seen lots of pictures in the news. So many people without their homes (sleeping on the floors of schools on donated mattress and in donated clothes eating donated food), without their livelihood.

In an earthquake, landslides and flooding from a broken dam (did not flood house but caused roads to be damaged) what could you grab as you are trying to get to a safe place. Not much if anything, especially because getting our children, elders and family to safety is the most important yet every day we take so much for granted.

Let us remember just how much we have and thank God for what he has given us each day because noting should be taken for granted not even our own lives. Everything is a blessing from Him.
