Friday night we had a 4.4 earthquake caused by a fault in San Jose. It was only felt in the capital area and we felt it strongly but it was very quick. It happened at 11 pm and the next morning we woke up to see this hole in the dead end road that our house in on. We also noticed a few cracks in the floor of the addition to the house (guess it is not as strong as the houses foundation). No real damage was done.
Notice the warning sign...Typical Costa Rica...sticks or tree branches stuck in the hole with something white if there if available...but really anything works from a milk carton to a piece of cloth or plastic. Wonder how long it will take them to fix. Don´t expect anytime soon as I have seen holes up to the size of a car (deep and not so deep) on more traveled roads that have been there quite a while.
